Door de coronacrisis is 2021 niet het meest fortuinlijke jaar geweest voor de viering van 30 jaar Stichting, maar dat wil niet zeggen dat we bij de pakken neerzitten. Integendeel! Op 22 januari 2022 organiseert de Stichting een kersverse Van Hamel-lezing! We hebben historicus Neil McGuigan, auteur van het dit jaar veschenen boek Máel Coluim III, ‘Canmore’, bereid gevonden om online een lezing te geven over “The ‘Paradox’ of Medieval Scotland? Re-examining the Scottish exceptionalism of the 12th and 13th centuries”.
Je kunt je aanmelden door een e-mail te sturen naar secretariaat@vanhamel.nl. Je zult dan t.z.t een link ontvangen om de lezing bij te kunnen wonen. Iedereen is welkom. De toegang is gratis, maar het aantal plaatsen is beperkt dus wees er snel bij.

2021 marks the Foundation’s 30th anniversary. While the corona crisis has prevented us so far from celebrating this milestone, we are reluctant to let it go by in silence. The Foundation has, therefore, invited a distinguished speaker to deliver an online paper in the Van Hamel Lecture series. On Thursday, January 27th, 2022, Neil McGuigan, historian and author of a recent monograph on Máel Coluim III, ‘Canmore’, will be talking about “The ‘Paradox’ of Medieval Scotland? Re-examining the Scottish exceptionalism of the 12th and 13th centuries”.
All are welcome! You can sign up to attend by sending us an email with your name to secretariaat@vanhamel.nl. Admission is free, but the number of virtual seats is limited so reservations will be made on a first-come, first-served basis. This event will start at 20:30 CET.
